PALEMBANG, SuaraSumselNews | GUBERNUR Sumatera Selatan (Sumsel) H Herman Deru mendukung penuh inisiasi Ikatan Cendikiawan Muslim Indonesia (ICMI) Sumsel yang mendukung ketahanan pangan Sumsel dengan mengembangkan tanaman sorgum di sejumlah pesantren sebagai pangan lokal.
Saat menerima audiensi pengurus ICMI Sumsel, bertempat diruang yamu gubernur, Senin (12/12) siang. Gubernur Herman Deru memberikan dukungannya pada ICMI dan beeharap tanaman sorgum lebih dikenalkan pada masyarakat sebagai alternatif pangan.
“Sosialisasikan pada masyarakat manfaat sorgum sebagai panganan alternatif. Termasuk sosialisasi pada petani,” imbuhnya.
Herman Deru menyebut sorgum merupakan tanaman yang tahan dengan cuaca kering karena tidak memerlukan banyak air selama dalam pertumbuhannya.
“Ini kita salut penciptaan ide itu. Sorgum komoditas yang sangat luar biasa. Meski masih jarang ditemui di Indonesia. Sorgum juga alternatif pengganti beras merah,” pungkasnya.
Sementara Sekretaris ICMI Sumsel Dr. Bahrul Ilmi Yakub. S.H., M. h., CGL dalam kesempatan program ICMI kepada Gubernur Herman Deru selaku Dewan Penasehat ICMI Sumsel.
Diantaranya yang dilaporkan terkait agendan silturahmi nasional. Serta kegiatann penanaman sorgum di Provinsi Sumsel.
“Dalam mendukung ketahanan pangan Sumsel, kita akan lakukan demplot sorgum di pesantren. Alahamdulillah mendapat respon positif darinGubernur,” tandasnya.
Untuk diketahui Sorgum merupakan tanaman sebaguna yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber pangan, pakan ternak dan
bahan baku induatri. Sebagai bahan pangan, sorgum berada pada urutan ke 5 setelah gandum, jagung, padi dan jelaj. Sorgum merupakan makanan pokok.lenting di asia selatan dan afrika.(*)
