“Saat ini eksisting lahan kelapa produktif diatas 30 ribu hektar. Dengan adanya PT Sriwijaya Agro Industri dapat meningkatkan eksisting lahan kelapa untuk memenuhi kebutuhan domestik dan ekspor,” ujarnya.
Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Herman Deru berharap PT Sriwijaya Agro Industri bermitra dalam membangun industri hilirisasinya.
“Karena kita juga berharap dengan dibukanya ekspor kelapa ini dapat menciptakan lapangan kerja, sekaligus membina IKM dan UMKM,” katanya.
“Kita juga berharap PT Sriwijaya Agro Industri bekerjasama di dalam dan luar negeri. Untuk jumlah kelapa yang di ekspor jumlahnya bertahap,” tambah Herman Deru.
Menurut Herman Deru, dengan adanya PT Sriwijaya Agro Industri ini menunjukkan kalau Pemrov hadir ditengah petani kelapa.
“Selama ini harga kelapa turun karena pangsa pasarnya terlalu sempit. Sekarang dengan adanya ekspor kelapa, dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan petani kelapa,” tandasnya.
Sementara itu, Kepala Dinas Perkebunan Provinsi Sumatera Selatan Ir. Agus Darwa M.Si mengatakan, pihaknya terus melakukan pembinaan ke petani kelapa. Bahkan, pihaknya akan menambah luasan produksi kelapa.
“Kalau sekarang produksi sekitar 1,8 ton perhektar pertahun. Kita berharap kedepan bisa diatas 2 ton perhektar pertahun,” paparnya.
Agus menuturkan, saat ini daerah penghasil kelapa yakni Banyuasin, Muba dan OKI. Tiga daerah itu pemasok utama. “Secara keseluruhan ada 240 ribu hektar lahan kepala dalam atau genjah. Untuk ekspor buah kelapanya sudah tersedia,” katanya.
