PALEMBANG, SuaraSumselNews | INNA lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Telah meninggal dunia mantan Rektor Universitas Taman Siswa (Unitas) Palembang, Ki Joko Siswanto, Sabtu (13/3) sekitar pukul 14.00 WIB.
Ki Joko Siswanto mengembuskan nafas terakhir saat menjalani perawatan di RSMH Palembang. Dosen FISIP Universitas Sriwijaya ini tutup usia di usia 63 tahun
Salah seorang dosen di Universitas Taman Siswa Palembang juga membenarkan kabar meninggalnya Joko. Mahendra mengatakan, Joko Siswanto merupakan Rektor Universitas Taman Siswa Palembang periode 2017 – 2020 yang dikenal sangat mengayomi dosen dan mahasiswa.
“Semoga amal ibadah pak Joko diterima oleh Allah SWT dan husnul khatimah,”doanya.
Jenazah Joko Siswanto rencananya akan dibawa untuk dimakamkan di kampung halamannya di Bantul, Provinsi DI Yogyakarta.
Sedikit perjalanan karier Joko Siswanto, lahir di Bantul, 5 Juni 1957. Joko yang lulus dari FISIP UGM tahun 1983, mulai mengajar di FISIP Unsri tahun 1985. Joko juga aktif sebagai pengamat politik di Sumsel. Di kurun waktu 1995 – 2003, Joko menjadi Dekan FISIP Universitas Taman Siswa Palembang. Kemudian saat KPU Sumsel terbentuk, dia masuk jajaran komisioner periode pertama 2003 – 2008. Joko pun tercatat pernah menduduki jabatan Rektor Universitas Taman Siswa Palembang 2017 – 2020. (*)
